ARE YOU A BOULDER OR AN OUTCROP? Greetings once again, to readers on this platform worldwide. This is a fascinating topic and those in my field of study can only understand the terms boulder and outcrop, those not in my field of study might not or might not have come across the words before. I will expatiate now what the words are, but the write up is questioning us who we are a boulder or an outcrop? A boulder is a large smooth mass of rock detached from its place of origin. We have agents of weathering that causes movement of the rock mass from its origin; like glacial, river and likes. We have glacial boulders and also river boulders, they are both carried by glacier and river to a place far distant from their origin. A boulder is exposed, because it has undergone weathering. Weathering is the disintegration of rocks, soil, minerals by agent such as water, ice, wind and so on. On the other hand, an outcrop is a visible large mass of bedrock on the surface of the earth. They do not cover the majority of the earth’s land surface, because in most places the bed rock are covered by a mantle of soil and vegetation. An outcrop cannot be seen or examined closely, because it has not undergone weathering; it is not exposed. It is still covered by mantle of soil and vegetation. Furthermore, just as these two rock mass are; so are we, some are boulders while some are outcrop. Most are boulders in the sense that they have been detached from their origin; the origin is GOD. He himself is the Rock of Ages; he is a rock himself, neither is there any rock as our GOD. The boulders are not covered again, they have being exposed; and so the agents of weathering the devil and his agents has re- shaped their life, and taken them far from their origin, which is GOD. They have missed their way back to GOD, they are exposed to the world; we are not of the world says the bible; he who is of the world and does worldly things is not of GOD, and so they are boulders. Are you a boulder? However, an outcrop type of person is not detached from its origin, it’s still intact and covered by GOD’s glory; the mantle of fire is on such people, that the agents of weathering, the devil and his agents cannot near nor touch them. They are not of the world; they do not the things of the world, because they are of GOD. They remain and abide in their origin, come what may, that is how we should be. The Psalmist said “he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” so are the outcrops, they dwell in the secret place of the most high, and so they are always shielded from agents of the devil; GOD is their refuge. Are you an outcrop? On a final note, many are boulder; they have missed their way back to their origin which is GOD. I beseech you to find your way back to your origin, he still loves you and can re- mould and re- make you into an outcrop; and to those who are outcrop, do not allow the agents of the devil to tempt you, watch and pray; and remain steadfast with GOD.
